The BLUECAP Project by the Sri Lanka Regional Block Grantee, Negombo Recycling Club, has reached two significant milestones in its mission to combat plastic pollution in Sri Lanka. With the dedication of 7,686 volunteers across 15 districts, the project has successfully completed 200 cleanups, recovering an impressive 14,807 kilograms of plastic debris. All collected waste is being responsibly processed through BLUECAP’s Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), ensuring sustainable recycling.

In addition, the project’s Education & Awareness Program has now impacted 75,000 individuals, equipping communities with knowledge on responsible waste management and plastic pollution reduction. By fostering awareness and encouraging long-term behavioral change, BLUECAP is empowering individuals to take meaningful action toward a cleaner environment.

These milestones highlight the power of collective action and the commitment of volunteers and supporters. Through these efforts, the BLUECAP Project is making a lasting impact in reducing plastic waste pollution in Sri Lanka.
