Empowering Women Through Sustainability and Innovation
As part of the PLEASE Project, ISP Environmental Solutions and Al Shafiq Trust have joined forces to empower students and women through sustainability education. Spearheaded by Zillay Marriam, the initiative promotes environmental responsibility with a strong focus on plastic waste reduction.
During the program, Nida Zafar led an insightful session on the health impacts of plastic and the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. This was followed by a hands-on workshop led by Ms. Huma, where participants learned to repurpose plastic waste, including standees and flex banners, into reusable tote bags. More than 20 women took part, gaining valuable skills that support both sustainability and financial independence.
By transforming waste into practical, reusable products, this initiative not only reduces plastic pollution but also encourages innovation, economic empowerment, and environmental stewardship within the community.
Training Future Leaders Through the Smart Schools Initiative
ISP Environmental Solutions has launched a comprehensive plastic waste awareness and training program across The Smart School campuses, equipping students and educators with essential knowledge on sustainable waste management. Starting at the Kahna branch, the initiative has already reached six campuses and is set to expand to 20+ campuses in the coming months.
The program educates students on plastic pollution, helping them calculate their plastic footprint, adopt mindful consumption habits, and practice waste segregation, recycling, and the elimination of single-use plastics. A strong focus on gender inclusion and empowerment ensures equal participation of boys and girls in environmental education. Notably, 80% of trained teachers so far are female, highlighting the critical role of women in sustainability education.
By empowering educators and students with the knowledge and tools to drive environmental responsibility, this initiative is shaping a new generation of eco-conscious leaders committed to building a cleaner, more sustainable future.
