Nepal

In Nepal, the Plastic Free Rivers and Seas for South Asia Project aims to mitigate plastic pollution by enhancing waste management infrastructure, promoting recycling, and conducting public awareness campaigns. The project collaborates with local communities and authorities to implement sustainable practices, safeguarding Nepal’s rivers and ecosystems from plastic waste.

As part of the PLEASE Project initiative to curb marine plastic pollution and ramp up eco-innovations to reinvent plastic use and production, the project has granted two Regional Block Grants (RBG) and three Innovation Grants (IG) to recipients from Nepal from the component 1 phase of ‘Supporting Competitive Block Grant Investments to Reduce Plastic Waste’. The proposals came from various community-based organisations and institutions registered in participating South Asian nations, aiming to initiate change on the ground at local, national, and/or regional levels.
