Community Empowerment Linkage (CEL) from Maldives was awarded an Innovation Grant (IG) to implement the project “No Plastic Island ‘Heavenly Mulah’.”
The project aims to foster a community-wide commitment to eliminating the use of plastics in daily activities by seeking to cultivate a generation that advocates against plastic waste, raising awareness about its dangers to the ecosystem for both humans and other species, promote clean environmental practices and effective waste management within the community, encouraging best practices for managing solid plastic waste to achieve the “No Plastic Island” goal by 2025 and providing a comprehensive solution for phasing out solid plastic waste within the community.
Community Empowerment Linkage (CEL) is a civil society organisation founded in 2020 in Meemu Mulah, an island in Maldives by a group of schoolmates united by a shared vision of enhancing their island community’s prosperity and health. CEL collaborates closely with the local community and various organisations to actively engage youth in addressing community needs and driving positive change.Visit Community Empowerment Linkage for more information
