Installing Plastic Waste Collection Barriers

Plastic waste collection barriers are physical structures that are placed in waterways and other bodies of water to prevent plastic waste from entering the environment. These barriers are developed by OceanBound and have been deployed and tested in multiple countries to great success.

To install plastic waste collection barriers, the following steps will be taken:

  • Identify suitable locations for the barriers. This can be done by mapping the flow of water and identifying areas where plastic waste is likely to accumulate.
  • Select the appropriate type of barrier for each location. The type of barrier will depend on the size of the waterway, the flow of water, and the type of plastic waste that is present.
  • Install the barriers according to the technical requirements.
  • Monitor the barriers regularly and remove any plastic waste that accumulates.

Improving Plastic Recycling Chain Efficiency

The plastic recycling chain efficiency will be improved by making it easier and more convenient for people to recycle plastic waste. This will be done by:

  • Increasing the number of recycling bins and collection points.
  • Simplifying the recycling process.
  • Providing financial incentives for recycling.
  • Raising awareness about the importance of recycling.

Community Behavior Change Intervention

Community behavior change interventions are designed to encourage people to change their behavior in a way that reduces the amount of plastic waste they produce. This will be done through a variety of methods, such as:

  • Educational campaigns
  • Public awareness campaigns
  • Social marketing campaigns
  • Community-based initiatives

Capacity Building of Stakeholders

  • Training programs
  • Workshops
  • Seminars
  • Mentoring programs

Water Hyacinth bio-waste recycling

Water hyacinth is a fast-growing aquatic plant that can be used to produce a variety of products, including compost, bio-fertilizer, and bio-gas. To recycle water hyacinth bio-waste, the following steps will be taken:

  • Collect water hyacinth from waterways and other bodies of water.
  • Clean and wash the water hyacinth to remove any dirt or debris.
  • Chop the water hyacinth into small pieces.
  • Supply to parties that will compost or ferment the water hyacinth to produce compost, bio-fertilizer, or bio-gas.

Revenue and sustainability model development

This will be done through a variety of methods, such as:

  • Charging fees for waste collection and disposal services.
  • Selling recycled plastic materials.
  • Generating revenue from advertising or sponsorships.
  • Applying for grants and other forms of funding.

Plastic recycling discount scheme

A plastic recycling discount scheme is a program that provides discounts to people who recycle plastic waste. This will be done by:

  • Partnering with businesses to offer discounts on products and services to customers who recycle plastic waste.
  • Creating a loyalty program that rewards people for recycling plastic waste.
  • Providing financial incentives to people who recycle plastic waste

  • Educational materials
  • Training programs
  • Technical assistance
  • Access to experts in the field of plastic waste management.
