The High-Level Roundtable on Plastic Waste Management in Pakistan was held on July 22, 2024, at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad. This important gathering aimed to tackle the escalating plastic waste crisis in South Asia and was organized by the Plastic Free Rivers and Seas for South Asia (PLEASE) project, led by the South Asia Cooperative Environment Programme (SACEP) with support from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the World Bank. The event united government officials, international organizations, corporate leaders, and civil society members to engage in meaningful discussions across three thematic segments, addressing the complex challenges of plastic waste management. The roundtable concluded with a shared commitment to actionable solutions, bringing together 72 attendees, including 54 external participants and 18 internal representatives from SACEP, UNOPS, and the World Bank, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in combating this critical environmental issue.
