The dissemination seminar held in Hyderabad on 22 July by AltasPak aimed to raise awareness on plastic pollution, highlight recycling initiatives, and introduce sustainable alternatives such as recycled PE manhole covers. It brought together key stakeholders including Mr. Zahoor Lakhan (Municipal Commissioner HMC), Mr. Muhammad Ahsan Naghar (Convener Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry), Dr. Mujahid Hussain Soomro (Director Environment Sindh Solid Waste Management Board), Mr. Javaid Iqbal (Chairman Traffic & Road Safety Foundation), and Mr. Adeel Siddiqui (President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry).

Local Action Groups (LAGs) played a vital role by sharing their experiences of awareness sessions in schools, hospitals, and rural areas. Schools engaged students in a poster competition against plastic pollution, while hospital staff and doctors provided valuable feedback on the project’s impact on health and environmental safety. The seminar also highlighted inclusive employment through the story of Saeeda, from the informal sector, now working as a waster sorter at the PE recycling plant.

This collective effort demonstrated the importance of community engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and circular economy approaches for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
