In a bold move toward sustainability and social empowerment, INSEE Ecocycle Lanka (Private) Limited is leading the way with a groundbreaking initiative titled “Empowering Women for Circular Plastic Economy: A Sustainable Solution to Tackle Mixed Plastics Recycling Model in Sri Lanka.”
At the heart of this innovation lies a simple yet powerful idea: reduce reliance on virgin plastics by developing home care product packaging that incorporates 25% post-consumer recycled plastic. This product-focused solution directly targets one of the biggest culprits in global waste: single-use plastic packaging.
Every year, millions of tons of plastic packaging are discarded after just one use, much of it ending up in landfills or polluting natural ecosystems due to ineffective waste management. INSEE Ecocycle’s approach not only addresses this issue but also strengthens local recycling systems by giving plastic a second life.
By integrating recycled plastics into everyday consumer goods, this innovation supports a circular economy model, a system where waste is minimized and materials are reused, not discarded.
This grant-supported innovation, successfully tested and verified, is more than just an environmental solution. It’s a step toward creating a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient future for Sri Lanka.
