The inauguration ceremony of AltasPak PE Recycling Plant was held on 30th July 2025 in District Hyderabad, led by the Honorable guests Minister of Food, Mr. Abdul Jabbar, Managing Director Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) Mr. Tariq Ali Nizamani, Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Mr. Zain-ul-Abideen Memon.

he chief guests, Municipal Commissioner Mr. Zahoor Lakhan, CEO Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Mr. Tufail Abro, Assistant Commissioner Taluka Latifabad Mr. Saud Lund, and Mr. Abdul Jabbar also visited the facility and were given a detailed tour of the PE plastic recycling process.

During the event, AltasPak presented its key innovation transforming discarded polyethylene (PE) shopping bags into durable, eco-friendly manhole covers, aimed at supporting sustainable urban infrastructure.

Representatives from UNOPS and the World Bank also attended, acknowledging the project’s global relevance. An appreciation ceremony followed, recognizing the dedicated teamwork of field staff and the collaborative efforts of LAGs, schools, and hospitals. The Managing Director SSWMB, Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad, and Minister of Food commended this pioneering initiative, appreciating its positive impact on environmental sustainability, public health, and the city’s future resilience.
