The Israafu Madhu Misraab: Single-Use Plastics Alternatives (IMM SUPA) Expo, held from January 21–22, 2025, at Artificial Beach, Malé, successfully highlighted sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics (SUPs). Organized by the Small Island Geographic Society (SIGS) in collaboration with Soneva Namoona, the expo was conducted under the REPLACE Project.
The event featured 20 stalls, showcasing SUP-free products, alternative lifestyles, and interactive community engagement activities. It attracted a diverse audience, including policy makers, businesses, NGOs, students, and the tourism sector, emphasizing the importance of reducing plastic waste.
Despite challenges like venue changes and rainy weather, the expo engaged over 500 visitors and facilitated valuable networking opportunities among vendors and sustainability advocates.
