Demonstrating innovation in waste management and sustainable livelihood creation, Doko Recyclers has set up a Plastic Recovery Facility (PRF) capable of handling 24 tons of dry waste per day, including complex materials such as multi-layered plastics (MLPs) and low-value plastics (LVPs).

With a dedicated team of 17 staff members, the PRF has already recovered an impressive 76 tons of plastic waste—turning what would have polluted rivers or crowded landfills into valuable resources. Every kilogram processed is a step closer to reducing the strain on landfill sites and safeguarding Nepal’s natural ecosystems.

But Doko Recyclers’ impact doesn’t stop at infrastructure. The organization is equally committed to building an ecosystem of awareness, inclusion, and capacity-building. By partnering with municipalities, launching awareness campaigns for housing communities, and collaborating with upcycling entrepreneurs, Doko is strengthening the entire waste management chain.

A cornerstone of this effort is training. So far, 302 participants from various sectors have taken part in Doko’s capacity-building programs on waste segregation and resource recovery. Notably, 58% of these trainees are women, reflecting a strong commitment to gender inclusivity in environmental leadership and green employment.

For Doko Recyclers, these achievements go far beyond statistics—they represent cleaner neighborhoods, empowered communities, and healthier ecosystems. The journey continues as Doko expands its recycling capacity and deepens its advocacy for sustainable, community-driven solutions to plastic waste.
