Project BLUECAP, under its intercept strategy, focused on deploying infrastructure to boost post-consumer plastic collection for recycling.
Through the hard work of its dedicated project team and the enthusiastic participation of the community leaders, they have distributed over 1000 drop-off bags and 80 strategically placed drop-off bins across the 15 districts. These locations were selected through the hot spot mapping survey with the participation of the community. The project aims to distribute 1300 drop off bags and 100 drop off bins in total.
This widespread deployment aims to make plastic collection for recycling more accessible and convenient for everyone. By providing these resources, we’re empowering individuals and households to actively contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable environment. BLUECAP project has been able to collect nearly 492 tons of recyclable plastics within 9 months through this strategically deployed infrastructure.
The Negombo Recycling Club (NRC) extends its sincere gratitude to all volunteers, supporters, and community members who made this milestone possible. The project aims to achieve higher standards in our collection progress and through novel initiatives as we continue to work towards a cleaner & greener Sri Lanka!
