From a waste segregator to a skilled baler/operator, Mr. Resham Bahadur Thapa has journeyed through Nepal’s waste management sector with three years of hands-on experience. Originally from Tanahun, he migrated to Chitwan, where he now works at a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) focused on managing plastic waste. His dedication has also inspired his wife, who now works alongside him. Together, they champion safe, sustainable practices—wearing PPEs, promoting workplace safety, and motivating peers. Their partnership highlights a powerful model of environmental stewardship and family empowerment. Resham has witnessed not just the growth of plastic recovery efforts, but also significant improvements in occupational health and working conditions. His unwavering commitment shows that plastic waste management can be more than just a job—it offers financial stability, drives community awareness, and contributes to a circular economy. His story is a testament to the transformative power of purpose-driven work.
