At Shramik Secondary School in Hetauda Sub Metropolitan City, a remarkable movement is emerging, led by the students. As a beneficiary, 11 year old Dikshya, one of the beneficiaries of the Waste Smart Club, is passionately committed to keeping her school clean and promoting proper waste segregation among her peers.

Dikshya’s journey took a significant turn during a visit to a nearby dumping site, where she realized that awareness alone was insufficient to address the growing plastic waste problem. This eye-opening experience fueled her determination to find a smarter solution. She began actively utilizing Waste Smart Dustbins, installed through Project CAP, by our Nepal Regional Block Grantee, CREASION, to ensure effective waste separation and disposal at her school. Her hands-on approach has not only educated her classmates but also inspired them to embrace sustainable practices. Through her efforts, Dikshya exemplifies the power of young girls in driving innovation and fostering environmental change.

By taking decisive action, she is shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future for her school and community. Dikshya’s dedication serves as a shining example of how even the youngest voices can make a significant impact on the environment, encouraging others to follow in her footsteps.
