In a village where the riverbanks once overflowed with plastic, a determined young woman is rewriting the narrative. Puja, a passionate advocate for her community, stands at the forefront of change in Gajuri, leading the charge against plastic pollution with infectious energy and unwavering determination.
Her journey began with a transformative workshop focused on plastic pollution and effective advocacy. Trained through Project CAP, Puja and her fellow youth learned about the realities of plastic waste and developed action plans to address it. They launched initiatives to combat pollution, including impactful river cleanup drives in hotspot areas.
“We can’t just stand by while our rivers drown in trash,” she proclaimed, rallying her community and empowering fellow youths to join her cause. But Puja’s vision reaches far beyond awareness; it is deeply rooted in hope. She founded “Puja Rupantaran Samagri Collection and Suppliers,” a company dedicated to collecting recyclable waste and reintegrating it into the local economy.
Since starting her enterprise, Puja has successfully collected over 8,000 bottles, ensuring they are sent for recycling rather than ending up in the river. By establishing a collection center on her family land, she is transforming waste into opportunity for her community.
