In a textile factory in Pakistan, a simple yet powerful idea is helping change the way people think about plastic. As part of the PLEASE project, Davaam Life has set up a cooking oil refill station at a textile factory, where around 200 workers and the management team refill their 3-liter bottles with oil instead of buying new plastic bottles each time, reducing their Single-Use-Plastic (SUP).

This everyday action is now driving real change. A significant amount of plastic has been avoided, and consumers have benefited from significant cost savings. What’s truly remarkable is how the mindset of around 220 people has shifted toward sustainable living. This refill station is more than just a machine, it’s a sign of positive change. By giving people an easy way to avoid SUPs, it has inspired others in the community to do the same.

Davaam Life also offers smart 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 for sanitary napkins, personal care products like shampoo and liquid soap, as well as household cleaning products, laundry items, and detergents. To-date, Davaam Life has installed 60 refill stations and 30 sanitary napkin stations, aiming to make consumer products more accessible, affordable, and sustainable. The primary objective of this innovative initiative is to change consumer behavior towards reusing packaging, by offering a convenient option to refill existing containers with consumer products in any desired quantity. Further, they have physically reached over 6500 people through awareness campaigns on plastic pollution mitigation.

This initiative directly tackles SUP dependency and provides a significant economic incentive for consumers, with products becoming 10% to 40% cheaper due to the elimination of packaging costs. For FMCG companies, this model offers a way to save on packaging expenses and expand their market reach into non-retail locations like factories, hostels and housing complexes.

Davaam’s refill stations are a hardware technology that not only reduces plastic waste but also creates a compelling economic model benefiting both consumers and the entire supply chain. The technology incorporates real-time data monitoring and analytics to track usage patterns and environmental impact, supporting a circular economy. Initial deployment has also included staff-assisted consumer engagement, while long-term success will be sustained through automated systems and behavior tracking surveys.

This scalable solution has the potential to transform retail consumption patterns, create green jobs, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide a data-driven approach to tackling plastic pollution in urban environments.

Davaam Life’s refill and dispensing stations demonstrate that sustainability doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive; instead it can be convenient and cost effective for consumers, while being profitable for producers, alongside protecting the environment from plastic pollution.
